The sausages were usually just boiled, similar to hot dogs, as they were too small for the grill. The original is nothing more than a mixture of vinegar, salt, and pepper. We’ve since added sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and different seasonings to get what we know as the original flavor of BBQ sauce.

But there are different recipes for BBQ sauce that give them a slightly different flavor—cooking on another level is knowing how to mix those sauces together for an entirely different experience.

This recipe uses a specific mixture of BBQ sauces, grape jelly, and some added seasonings to make a sauce entirely its own. We already know we need some little smokies. You can go with your favorite brand; however, the most common brand is Hillshire Farm.

Then it’s time to get the sauce together. You can just dump these sauces and seasonings into a crockpot and then stir them before turning it on. You will need grape jelly, original BBQ sauce, honey BBQ, and honey maple.

Then the last two ingredients take this recipe to the next level; hot chipotle seasoning and brown sugar.

  • 1 Jar of Grape Jelly

  • 1/3 Cup of Barbecue Sauce

  • 1/3 Cup of Honey Barbecue Sauce

  • 1/3 Cup of Honey Maple Barbecue Sauce

  • Hot Chipotle Seasoning (to taste)

  • Brown Sugar (to taste)

Directions

  • Dump all of the ingredients into the crockpot.
  • Turn on low for 2-3 hours.
