You can BBQ pork, fry it, roast it, smoke it, you can do about whatever you want to it. But the best recipe might just be a crockpot pulled pork tacos recipe. Tacos usually come with amazing Mexican flavors like cilantro, avocados, and so much more.

This recipe will make Taco Tuesday so much better. Especially since it is a different twist that can be considered a step above the normal ground beef tacos.

You can be organized before building your tacos. It is so much easier to prep everything and separate it into bowls or onto plates so you can easily build the tacos when they are ready.

That means you will want to prep the avocado, pickled red onions, fresh jalapenos, cilantro, and lime. Make sure you have your corn tortillas on standby, but there is no need to prep them ahead of time.

In fact, you will want to wait until just before you are ready to build the tacos. Above all, you will want to start the pork shoulder in the crockpot before anything else. However, the pork needs to be spiced before you can cook it.

The spice will be made up of many different spices like chili powder, kosher salt, brown sugar, cumin, cayenne, oregano, and more.

Rinse pork shoulder with cold water and pat dry with a paper towel. Cut pork shoulder into large pieces (approximately 1” pieces)

In a large gallon baggie add spice rub mix and combine.

Add pork shoulder pieces, seal baggie, and make sure all pieces are coated with spices.

Add 2 tablespoons olive oil to cast iron skillet or pan. Once the skillet is hot add the pork shoulder pieces and brown all sides making sure to rotate until all sides are brown but not cooked all the way through.

After you brown all pieces you can add directly to the crockpot including any liquid from cast iron skillet or pan. If dry add a little olive oil to crock pot.

Cool on high 4-5 hours or low 7-8.

When pork is finished remove and shred with two forks or you can serve as is.

  • 3-4 Pounds Boneless Pork Shoulder

  • 2 Tbsp Olive Oil

  • Tortillas (Corn or Flour)

  • Avocado

  • Pickled Onions

  • Salsa

  • Fresh Jalapenos

  • Cilantro

  • Lime

  • Spice Rub
  • 3 Tbsp Chili Powder

  • 1 Tbsp Kosher Salt

  • 1 Tbsp Brown Sugar

  • 2 Tsp Cumin

  • 1 Tsp Cayenne

  • 1/2 Tsp Oregano

  • 1 Tsp Onion Powder

  • 1/4 Tsp Cinnamon

  • 1/2 Tsp Garlic Powder
