Festive Christmas Latte Recipe
Santa works the graveyard shift, but the kids waiting for Santa are ready to wake up bright and early. Unfortunately, we aren’t all ready for the early morning wake-up call. That’s why we should have a festive Christmas latte recipe ready and waiting.
This festive Christmas latte recipe hits the spot on Christmas morning, combining festive flavors with a gingerbread cookie. Not everyone has an espresso machine that can give them a jolt on Christmas Day.
Instead, we accept a cup of black coffee to help us wake up, but none of us have accepted that as the perfect Christmas coffee drink. Instead, we long for something better, something different for the holiday season.
We want a delicious drink that is filled with flavorful spices. Coffee lovers know that good peppermint mocha or caramel lattes are festive drinks that embrace the holiday spirit in a cup. However, we are not beholden to these drinks for some holiday cheer.
Instead, we can use a homemade gingerbread latte recipe which may just become one of our favorite ways to enjoy coffee during the holidays. Move over pumpkin spice lattes; gingerbread is taking the reigns this year.
This coffee recipe doesn’t rely on gingerbread syrup or even homemade syrup for the flavor. Instead, we get the taste from the same ingredients that go into gingerbread. This helps give every sip some holiday flavor.
It is the better way to make a delicious recipe fit for your Christmas coffee mug. One sip from this coffee that uses simple ingredients, and you may just be saying it is the perfect drink for the season. However, the best part might just be that it is made in a crockpot!
Festive Christmas Latte Recipe in a Crockpot
Why use a crockpot to make a yummy gingerbread latte? Regular coffee, when fresh, is best served warm. This is why we use coffee pots at home. The coffee pot keeps the coffee warm until we’re ready to drink it.
A crockpot is capable of doing the same thing using the warm setting. However, the most significant difference is the amount. We can make a lot more gingerbread latte in a crockpot than we ever could with a coffee pot.
You can enjoy your own latte, but so can everyone else who needs it. And let’s face it; a good number of adults will need a latte for an early Christmas morning. That isn’t to say we are entirely ditching the coffee pot.
In fact, we need to make the coffee first, then add it to a crockpot with the rest of the ingredients. We could use instant espresso powder, but the results won’t be as much fun to drink. Better to make the coffee separately.
We just need a few simple ingredients to make one of the best holiday drinks to ever come from a crockpot.
Holiday Latte Ingredients
- Whole Milk: A good latte starts with milk. We won’t be using an espresso machine to froth the milk. However, the crockpot will heat up the milk, giving it a flavor similar to that of frothed milk.
- Seasonings: We need to use a good number of seasonings. They will give us that gingerbread cookie flavor we want. In fact, this festive Christmas latte uses a lot of the same seasonings as gingerbread, such as ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and ground allspice.
- Brown Sugar: We can’t have a gingerbread latte and not let it be on the sweet side. We aren’t making hot chocolate, but we do want something tasty to go with the beautiful Christmas tree in the living room.
- Maple Syrup: The brown sugar will give us a bit of the sweetness and more of the caramel flavor we want in a latte. The maple syrup will balance things out while also adding sweetness. No gingerbread simple syrup here.
- Vanilla Extract: A splash of vanilla extract ties everything together. We may need to consider this part when garnishing the latte.
- Strong Black Coffee: We cannot make a latte without coffee. The number of ingredients going in means we want to use strong coffee. The rest of the ingredients will take care of the flavor; we just need that caffeine to shine through this morning.
How to Garnish a Christmas Latte
This festive season is filled with delicious scents, beautiful scenes, and the warmth only friends and family can provide. Of course, that was until we discovered this delicious warm spiced coffee recipe.
It is an easy recipe to make, so we can go a bit crazier with the garnishes. We use whipped cream to start things off. Then, a sprinkle of cinnamon, maybe some gingerbread cookie crumbs and festive sprinkles.
Lastly, we can serve with a gingerbread cookie or two. Another option would be to sprinkle gingerbread cookie crumbs over the whipped topping and then place a cinnamon stick gently on top.
The cinnamon stick will add a bit of flavor, but not much. How you choose to garnish your latte is entirely up to you. However, we suggest making it as festive as possible for the pics.
A few favorites to play around with include whipped cream, gingersnap cookies, caramel sauce, gingerbread cookies, and sprinkles.
