  • 16 Oz Jar of Pizza Sauce: Homemade pizza sauce is a great option for next time. However, your first time should be as easy as possible. Pick out a warm pizza sauce you like the most. You can even go with a spaghetti sauce if you’d like. 
  • 8 Oz Ball of Fresh Mozzarella: Another opportunity for a fun twist is the cheese. This recipe uses the classic mozzarella cheese. However, you can use parmesan cheese, American cheese, a slice of mozzarella cheese, or any combination. In fact, you can make a complete cheese pizza sandwich for kids with their favorite cheese slices.
  • Toppings: This pizza sandwich recipe uses green peppers, mushrooms, basil, and a tomato. However, pizza sandwiches are just as customizable as pizza itself.

We can achieve the same results with our sandwich bread by simply grilling the sandwich in a frying pan. There are plenty of options to choose from in this recipe. Each one leads to delicious sandwiches.

How to make a Pizza Panini

Heat a panini press to medium heat and grease the plates.

Place a piece of Sourdough bread on a plate and spread a layer of pizza sauce.

Cover the bread with shredded or sliced fresh mozzarella cheese.

Place pepperoni and other desired toppings onto the sandwich.

Place the sandwich on the panini press, close, and toast until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown, about 6-9 minutes.
